Biomedical Engineering Design Project | Gilead Dementia Ward, Sheba Medical Center

• Co-developed an IoT-based clinical alert system to monitor patient movement and
prevent falls or wandering events in dementia wards.
• Engineered using Arduino Nano + ESP Wi-Fi, Laser Time-of-Flight Sensor, and Telegram
Bot integration for encrypted real-time alerts.
• Implemented firmware in C++, handling 24/7 encrypted webhook responses in under 1
second.
• Designed Pipedream-based workflow to securely process event payloads and interface
with caregivers.
• Built soldered matrix perfboards and sealed medical-grade enclosures for clinical
durability.
• Deployed modular hardware for future expansion (PIR sensor, battery backup, pressure
mat) without rewriting core code.
• Enabled smarter nursing workflow by replacing “just-in-case” rounds with precise,
